I finally jumped on the smoothie bowl bandwagon, and I am THRILLED. Seriously, what took me so long?! Something about a colorful morning treat makes me giddy. I’ve always been a smoothie lover, but turning it into a celebratory bowl takes it to a whole new level. Plus, it’s super filling! I always like to kickoff my day with a good breakfast.
You can really get creative and create any kind of smoothie bowl you’re craving — from greens, to berries, to chocolate-y goodness. Essentially, you can make your favorite smoothie, and top it with healthy must-haves like chia seeds, shredded coconut, almond slices, dark chocolate chips… the list goes on and on!
For the recipe below, I made an almond-berry smoothie bowl. Include protein powder and/or greek yogurt to get the right amounts of fat and protein. This will keep you full, so you don’t lean on snacking. I’ve also shared a ton of smoothie recipes on here that you can easily turn into bowls — click here, here + here for ideas! Don’t be afraid of making a smoothie with almond butter and chocolate protein powder as a healthy way to sneak in a sweet treat this weekend!
What’s your favorite smoothie bowl recipe flavor?!
Ingredients: 1 c. greek yogurt | 1/2 c. almond milk | 1 serving protein powder | 1 c. frozen berries (or to taste) | handful of ice
Toppings: shredded coconut | chia seeds | shaved almonds | fresh berries
Blend yogurt, almond milk, protein powder + frozen berries until smooth | Add ice as needed if you prefer a thicker texture (this also keeps toppings from sinking) | Pour mixture in bowl | Place toppings in colorful rows + enjoy!
