Okay, mamas… let’s chat all things that keep me sane. AKA, a list of my mom must-haves.
Last week, I shared my baby favorites that I love for Evan. This time, I wanted to spill my mama secrets. Because when it’s 8am and you’re already covered in puke (and probably poop), you need a little pickmeup… or a giant glass of wine with breakfast.
Here’s a list of some of the things I’ve loved in early motherhood. My mom must-haves range from nursing staples, to practical baby slings, to beauty must-haves that will make you feel pretty behind allllll that spit-up…
Chekoh Grey Stripe Wrap | On days that Evan isn’t tooo squirmy, I like to throw him in this wrap. The material is cozy cozy cozy for him, and I like the feel of this material against my back and shoulders. I usually still keep my arms around him for support (hellooo, paranoid first-time mama), but you can also be hands-free.
Artifact Uprising ‘The Story of You’ Baby Book | Artifact Uprising sent me this sweet baby book as a gift after Evan was born, and it has quickly become one of my most cherished items. Adding photos of my son and our family reminds me that Evan already has his own story, and I can’t wait to keep documenting it! I have also been printing all of our photos from Artifact Uprising, which look so beautiful and classic in the book. PS. use code AUstoryLG for 10% off your own baby book!
I have one of these tanks in every color! They’re super comfy, and really easy to clip on or off in a rush – perfect for moms on-the-go!
I loved this manual breast pump in the first couple weeks of motherhood, while my body was still figuring out how much milk to produce. It relieved me from discomfort without over-pumping my supply.
New mamas know how important it is to track how often little ones are eating! This book keeps me super organized while nursing — with areas for marking times, ounces (and bodily functions)! This book has significantly helped me nail down my son’s feeding routine as he becomes more consistent. This is definitely a mom must-have!
4. Benefit Cosmetics Cheek & Lip Stain
Mornings are the most hectic in our house, which means spending an hour getting glammed-up for the day is just not an option anymore. But this cheek + lip stain are a super quick solution for feeling pretty put together! A little color goes a long way on a sleepy mama.
These leggings have been my BESTIE since giving birth. The smooth fabric and high waistline is ultra-flattering, which definitely feels like a luxury post-baby.
Mamas everywhere are loving the backpack trend! This diaper bag is chic, yet practical (seriously, my dream). It fits everything I need (and more!) while keeping my hands free to squeeze my little babe.
Anything that will conceal dark circles from the light of day is considered magic in my book. This concealer goes on so smooth, and with a few pats of a finger, blends beautifully into the skin. This is a mom must-have for the rest of time!
8. Bravado Designs Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra
Bravado Designs sent me one of the most comfortable (and flattering!) nursing bras I’ve tried since having Evan. It’s seamless, which means it can’t be seen through a t-shirt. Nursing bras that are both practical AND pretty are hard to come by, and this brand is both.
9. Luna Lullaby Breastfeeding Pillow
I’ve tried out a few different breastfeeding pillows over the last couple of months, but this one is BY FAR my favorite. The shape makes it super easy for me to switch Evan from one side to the next, plus he loves to prop against it after feedings and quite literally falls asleep because it’s so soft.
10. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque
Using this face mask at the end of the day has been another little luxury I can’t get enough of. It makes my skin appear dewey + summer-like without feeling greasy. I leave it on overnight, and wake up looking really refreshed! Which is basically a miracle.
My mama besties just introduced me to this sling. The linen material feels strong and supportive, and I don’t worry about Ev slipping through. Plus, once you’ve knotted the ring once, you can easily slip it on and off without having to start over each time. So convenient (especially when you’re new at this mom thing and every other sling seems impossible to figure out).
ToteSavvy Diaper Bag Insert | This diaper bag insert is a game-changer — it transforms my chic tote into a supermom diaper bag… [INSERT HAPPY DANCE HERE]. For the days I just want to carry one of my favorite (non) diaper bags, I throw in this insert, which has compartments for diapers, bottles, burp cloths, etc. AND it’s super easy to clean.
PeabodyMom | This brand is so perfect for new mamas, because the clothes make you feel sexy even in the first weeks of motherhood. The ultra high-waisted leggings are my favorite — because they’re dressy enough to feel like you’re wearing something other than pajama pants, yet the high waist secures everything that feels softer after childbirth.
