FINALLY, here’s a look inside our baby’s nursery! In true #momlife fashion, I’m a little late to the party. I actually photographed the space before little Evan Grey arrived, not knowing if I was having a boy or girl at that point (we kept it a surprise until delivery day)! But I decided to hold on sharing the space until Ev had some time to really make it his own.
The room is now overflowing with sentimental gifts and stuffed animals and far too many pieces of clothing from friends and family who love to spoil him.
Prior to making this a nursery, the room was a guest bedroom for my mama to stay in. We moved that furniture into a different space in the house, and made this room the coziest little getaway for our babe. You probably don’t remember this now — but Jake and I had majorly procrastinated on getting this space together (as in, I was nearly 37 weeks pregnant without a single item for the room!) If Ev had arrived early, we would have been having a sleepover in our bed every night because we had nothing.
Thank goooooodness for my cousin, who helped us design the space and quickly pull furniture. The room was ready to go a few days before I went into labor (thank you for being a week late, Ev)!
Most of the space feels really gender-neutral, since we didn’t know what we were having. But we’ve filled in the room with some of Evan’s favorites, that really feel like him, like woven animal baskets and his favorite stuffed animals. Most of the main furniture pieces are from Restoration Hardware, because they’ll last forever and I can use them with future babes as well (and as family heirlooms). We decided to have two rocking chairs in the room, which proved to be the BEST idea. I can’t tell you the number of times I sat nursing in one of the chairs, while Jake or my mom, or a sibling or BFF would sit in the other to keep me company. I always felt so surrounded with support!
A few of the pieces in the room were handmade by friends and family, which make them especially important to us, like the throws and the adorable bunny painting hanging on the wall (which my friend Katie created)!
Another favorite part of the room is the decor above the bed — they are actually felt mobiles we found on Etsy. Because of earthquakes in California, you cannot have anything above the crib that could fall. These mobiles were the perfect solution to fill the wall space because they are soft and super lightweight — like feathers!
Keep scrolling for photos of the nursery — I cannot wait to see what it transitions into as Ev grows up!
