October 4, 2017 / Motherhood
I am still adjusting to this new normal of motherhood. Mom guilt is a real thing, and I’m admittedly struggling at how to organize my day. I find myself trying to write emails while playing peekaboo with my boy while trying to squeeze in 20 squats next to his play mat (how else do I get my bum back in shape?!) My goal for the month is to better organize my day, so I get quality work AND baby time!
Little Ev just started to notice when my phone is around, so I’m (attempting) to not always have it next to me. Macy’s has a watch as smart as my phone, that keeps my mama brain on track. Meet the Michael Kors Access Sofie Smartwatch. It alerts me when someone calls, texts or emails. Plus, it shows my calendar, tracks my fitness, connects to social media and stores my contacts. Google assistant is pre-loaded on the watch, which means I can literally give commands to my wrist. The Sofie smartwatch is so practical (and chic!) — and allows you to customize the watch with more than 20 dials/faces to choose from (and interchangeable straps!) so it really feels like your own.
Here’s how I’m trying to balance my time between work and play this month…
6:00 AM | GOOD MORNING | Evan and I kick off our days together with story time (and coffee)! I keep an eye on the time, so I can manage to nurse him, change his diaper, tell him a morning story and have some play time before I move on to getting work done. The Sofie smartwatch can display time in digital or analog. I also like to briefly keep an eye on any new texts and emails, so I know what I’ll be tackling later in the morning.
8:00 AM | GET TO WORK | I dedicate a few hours every morning to solo work time. I still make to-do lists on paper! I’ll work on getting emails out, planning content and blog shoots, writing and pitching new projects. I can track my calendar on the watch, and keep app notifications on. I also like to check the weather during my work time.
12:00 PM | LUNCH BREAK | I try to make my own lunches to keep things healthy. I’ll keep an eye on emails and social media alerts while taking some time for myself.
12:30 PM | FOLD, FOLD, FOLD | Somehow, baby laundry doesn’t feel like work. I meannnnnn, the clothes are so cute. If I don’t set a timer for folding Evan’s adorbs muscle tees, I’ll quite literally end up on the floor — sobbing — because time feels like it’s going too quickly… #MOMLIFE
3:00 PM | RUN IT OFF | I crave a good run a few days a week to clear my head and keep my mama brain SANE. I love how the Sofie smartwatch tracks my daily steps, distance and calories. This way, I know when I need to pick things up, or when I’ve already done enough. A super hard workout can actually impact my milk supply while nursing, so it’s important I don’t overdo it.
5:00 PM | PLAY AND PRAY | I always create time for a cozy bedtime routine with Ev. We start with something fun as a family — like a walk around our neighborhood, tummy time in the backyard, or a beach walk (his favorite). We lived in Malibu all summer, which made him a total California beach babe! I could spend forever on the sand with him, but I keep an eye on the time so I’m always home and running his bath by 7:00. I work on getting him milk drunk so he sleeps all night. We say a few nightly prayers and get Ev to bed. I turn down the brightness on the watch, so Ev doesn’t get distracted at bedtime.
… then I usually stalk Instagram before indulging in a glass of wine with my hubby!
Shop the Sofie touchscreen smartwatch at Macy’s right here. You can choose from rose gold (my fave!), yellow gold or stainless steel… annnnd you can pick between bling or no bling! Happy spoiling yourself at Macy’s!
