I want to glow [like a Jennifer Lopez type glow]. Sometimes, I think the answer is vaseline. Other times, it’s love. And now, I’m convinced it’s… lemons.
My 19-year-old sister tells me all the cool kids are applying DIY face masks. I’m mostly thrilled because this beauty project makes me feel domestic-ish. Except that I’m wasting groceries on vanity…
Combine 1/2 squeezed lemon, 1/2c granulated sugar, 1tbs organic raw honey + 1tbs tea tree oil. Stir well. Apply the mask with your fingertips (avoid eye area). Leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse well and follow with a moisturizing lotion [store extra in a container].
This mask exfoliates dead skin cells, while calming inflammation. Did you know…
– Lemons kill bacteria, tighten pores and lighten skin spots and acne scars.
– Sugar is a natural exfoliant that clears clogged pores, blackheads and dead cells.
– Honey is a mild antibacterial, and keeps your skin hydrated.
– Tea tree oil is a natural disinfectant that fights breakouts.
I’ve seen similar takes on this mask [here + here], so don’t be shy to tweak your recipe. Start by applying once per week. If this is too strong for you, simply combine lemon and honey for a non-exfoliating mask. You can also swap tea tree for aloe vera or olive oil.
Let me know if you start feeling more like Jennifer Lopez in a few weeks…
