We are (finally!) back in our groove after taking a two-week trip to Michigan this month. What a crazy magical time to indulge in some lake life with our Evan Grey. It marked the first time I brought our boy to my hometown in Holland. He traveled like a champ and didn’t have a total breakdown on the flight, which I consider a major WIN.
In those two weeks on the lake, my heart channeled my childhood. Little Ev reminded me of all the dreams I used to dream growing up. On my first morning there, I took Evan out to the back deck and watched him fall asleep to the sound of Lake Michigan. I cried (a few times), because I remember dreaming of such a moment as a kid myself. And there I was, with this beautiful boy listening to the water that raised me. I felt infinitely grateful.
Lake life took us out of the city and calmed our busy schedules. It also reminded me of the beauty in living like a kid again. This trip felt especially magical because I looked at everything through Evan’s eyes — as though I had never experienced it before. I spent some alone time on the water, to let it all settle in.
Here are some of my favorite snapshots from the trip…
