I recently spent a night away from home, after months of feeling overwhelmed and out of my groove. Just one day away focused on creating new systems for myself in this season of life has already completely shifted my pace, my attitude, my habits and my presence — which is a reminder that sometimes big changes happen because of small shifts.
I’m sharing 3 daily habits that I have committed to recently. These routines feel like a gift to myself, and make me a better mom/wife/business owner – all of the things! This is your reminder to drink your water, take your vitamins, move your body and speak kindly to yourself. What’s something you want to do today?
Morning Stretches
A small habit that hugely changes my mindset. My daily stretches have become essential in my morning routine, first thing out of bed before anything else. Sometimes the kids are already asking for a million things, but it’s just about moving my body for a few minutes. WOW it makes such a difference in how I show up for the day. I talk about this habit a lot, because for me it’s been one of the most powerful changes I’ve made in the last year, and by far the most doable. I shared a stretching routine I do here.
Daily Movement
I have so much gratitude for being able to move my body. Exercise keeps me healthy + happy and I make time for it every day. I love doing a long morning jog in the sunshine, a quick treadmill series, or one of my strength/cardio circuits. Even 15 minuets makes such a difference.
When I do have the time for one of my morning jogs, I use it as a moment to mentally set my intentions for the day. This includes how I want to feel and how I want to make others feel. This sets the energy for a productive day while also putting me in the mindset of more thoughtfully reacting to whatever frustrations the day may bring.
