Aspen is one of my favorite cities to visit in the wintertime because it feels like a dreamy snow globe! The snowy mountains, village-like town, hot cocoa stands and ski shops make it feel like it’s straight out of a movie. Even the local fire station is covered in Christmas lights and they welcomed Ev inside for hours to “test drive” the trucks 😉
This family trip is now becoming an annual one — we first took Evan last year, bur prior to that, Jake and I used to go with friends + family around this time of year. Last time around, we put Ev on ski’s for a few minutes, but this year he was super excited to try snowboarding after I had showed him videos of other kiddos doing it! I didn’t know how the reality of it would go (um, helllllo, a trillion layers and helmets and goggles and all the things a toddler doesn’t want to wear). But, once he got on the mountain and did his first run on the bunny hill he was OBSESSED. Here’s the video in case you missed it on Instagram. Of course I was a total stage mom cheering him on LOL… #momtruth.
The few days we were there truly felt so happy. It filled our hearts in a million different ways, and we had one magical sign after another that heaven was dancing around us. We even spotted a white horse that came up to us as we were on our way to the slopes one day.
Trips like this always happily remind me to slow down enough to notice life happening around me. Like the horse. And the direction the snow falls. And the way our boy smiles every time he takes that first sip of hot cocoa. It’s just the best, and I am so grateful for those moments.

We are obsessed with this onesie for Ev! It’s size 18-24 months, but fit him perfectly because the material fits more oversized. It made getting him dressed (and undressed between playtime in the snow) SO easy because it just zips down. It’s also not too puffy, which is more ideal for when kids are needing to move around best, for skiing or snowboarding.
We also picked up this puffer from Gap, which is more marshmallow-like, but we also LOVED it for walking around the town and casual playtime in the snow.
Okay, and now for a few of my outfits… 😉
Coat: Apparis | Pants: Erin Snow | Sweater: Helmut Lang | Boots: Moon Boot
I love an all-white look on the mountain, and these snow pants are my favorite! I wore them several times over the weekend — they are warm, practical and super snug to my body, which is also ideal for layering thins like thick socks and boots over top. The moon boots were a purchase I made last year for Aspen, and they proved to be great again for walking around the city, playing with Ev, and also for gondola rides up to the top when we were not skiing. You can go up to see the views and grab a bite — even if you’re not skiing that particular day. We did this a lot on Aspen Mountain, and then Jake + I ski’d on another mountain (Buttermilk and Snowmass), which are better for kids.
